In case you haven’t seen the Behind the Scenes video yet…
My good friend, Daisy Varley, who’s an amazing photographer and videographer, flew here from San Diego to help videotape Stacy’s boudoir session. She did a fantastic job of showing what it’s like to go through a session and Stacy was awesome about having two cameras on her at once! I, on the other hand, suck at being in front of the camera still so please excuse the lapses sometimes in the intro part of the video. :p
I’ve been thinking about getting a little more personal on the blog lately and decided to start a series of personal thoughts, events, and what not. For anyone interested in seeing my travel & life blog, click HERE.
Today I put on my yoga pants and thought what I always think when I see my legs in the mirror, which is good God, they’re gigantic! Yes, I was born with thunder thighs & calves. Both my parents have big, muscular legs so the odds were against me. I’ll tell my husband Drew sometimes that I wish we could surgically switch our legs so that I could have his long, skinny ones, and he can have my muscular ones. Alas, no one is performing such surgeries at the moment. (Exhibit A: me and the hubby in shorts. Note the size difference in legs.)
As a boudoir photographer photographing women, I realize that EVERYONE has a hangup or two about something or other. Even the women who seem to have “perfect” bodies feel like something is either too big or too small. I think it’s just in our nature. I’m sure even models nitpick about their features. It’s normal and so long as we don’t beat ourselves up about it all the time and can go about living our daily lives with confidence, it’s ok. You can love who you are without having to love every single part of yourself, because you are more than just your looks.
As for me, I have accepted a long time ago that my legs will always look muscular no matter what I do. Yes, I still sometimes pinch in my thighs in the dressing room wishing they were thinner, but I know that there’s so much more to me than just my legs. And when I really start to think about it, I’m just thankful to have legs and all my other body parts so that I can function easily in my day-to-day life. So, thank the Lord for that!
Two years ago, Carey did a boudoir shoot with me and had a calendar made. Her man loved it so much that he gave her an LV handbag. Um…can we say keeper? Yes, a good man is hard to find, but they’re out there. And no, it’s not the LV bags that keeps people together, as we all know. It takes something much more than that, and when you’ve found it, you just know. I know it sounds cliche, but it’s true. Holler if you know what I mean! Then go and kiss that special someone and be thankful that you’re able to share the world together in this lifetime.
To show her love, Carey’s giving her man the gift she knows he’ll love all year long. Here’ are a few teaser images from the shoot for her 2012 calendar. Something different for every month! (More to come next week…)
